Update on Life, Wyatt & Pregnancy #2

So the last 8 weeks have kind of flown by.  I blinked and now I'm 18 weeks pregnant!  It has been SO so busy the last couple of months that I barely have time to breathe.  This is what we've been up to...

Our driveway was torn out & Wyatt was in little boy heaven watching those big trucks work
A new driveway was poured, including a side patio and sidewalk that goes all the way around the house, eee!!  And we LOVE it!
New driveway... which will now fit FOUR cars!
Sidewalk on the side of the house... which is awesome because now all the stray cats will have to find a new place to poop.
Covered patio area... I have a few things on the honey-do list for this area :)
Patio area next to covered patio area...
Back of the house with the sidewalk that wraps around
And every new driveway needs a new gate right? :)
The gate guy was awesome and customized it for us with a door in the middle and a 'B'.
I love my 'B'.
Wyatt helped water the plants as we fixed the flower beds back up
 and we left our mark.
The week our driveway was put in was hellishly hot, so Wyatt had to stay inside a lot.  Which resulted in him getting cabin fever.  Bad.  So the day after the driveway was poured I said screw it and let him out.  He played with the hose on the front porch for about 30 minutes before walking back to the door to let me know he wanted back inside.  He was super warm and his skin was pretty red from being overheated so I took down a fan and set it on the floor for him to cool off.  He sat in front of that fan and scooted as close as I would let him and then just enjoyed the cool air.  I turned on a movie for him and he stayed in front of that fan for a solid 30 minutes before he was cooled down enough to run around the house.  I had NO idea it would take him that long to cool back down!  I'm pretty sure he thinks it was worth it though :)
Every evening, if it's cool enough, we'll go outside for an hour or so and Wyatt just loves it.  He's definitely an outdoors kinda kid.
As a belated birthday present {because I forgot it was in the closet... oops!}  Wyatt got a ball pit.
Every child should get a ball pit.  These things are amazingly fun and when it's your own kid playing in it, you don't have to worry about all the germs!  Bonus!

On June 24th, when I was almost 15 weeks pregnant, I went & had a cerclage put in.  Since everything was so out of control with my last pregnancy, my dr. decided that it would be a good idea to be proactive and try to prevent a repeat.  He said "It's better to do this and not need it, than not do it and have needed it."  I couldn't agree more!

We were at the hospital SO. LONG.  We got there at 10:40, about 10 minutes “late”, but my dr. had said to just arrive between 10:30 and 11:00 so I thought we were fine.  As we pulled into the parking lot, a nurse called to make sure we were coming, and then I was sent up to pre-op in a wheelchair {a tad overkill if you ask me} without my paperwork because they’d been waiting on me.  Whoops!  Then of course the nurses in pre-op were annoyed and confused as to why I was sent up without any paperwork, but after a second they stopped talking to the lady that brought me up, told me not to worry about it and brought me to a room to get changed.  The two nurses that attended to me there were SUPER nice and when I was taken over to surgery, the one that was still in the room hugged me and wished me luck with everything.  When I got to surgery, the anesthesiologist had to do the spinal 2x and that really sucked.  She said I have tight vertebra or something.  I’m just glad it didn’t hurt the second time!  The procedure literally took 5 minutes and I was wheeled over to one recovery room for like an hour.  Then I was moved to a different recovery where they let Jared come back with me.  I was STARVING because it was almost 2 and I hadn’t eaten all day so the nurses hooked me up with a turkey sandwich.  It was one of the best turkey sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life… which is saying something.  Around 3 I was really ready to be out of that place but the nurses said that I had to pee before I could leave.  I was drinking water like it was my job and around 3:30 I was ready for my pee attempt.  I sat on the side of the bed for a few minutes and could tell that my butt was still super numb so I was a little nervous to stand up.  With the help of Jared and 2 nurses, I made it to the bathroom where I sat for 5 minutes willing myself to pee already.  But it was a no go.  So I slugged my way back to the bed where I chugged water and willed feeling back into body for the next hour.  Around 5 I tried again and this time I could walk to the bathroom without holding on to anyone.  And I peed.  It was the longest pee of my life.  I was still a little numb so I just sat there for like a solid minute, maybe more, while all of the water emptied out of my bladder.  It was a little ridiculous.  After I flushed I heard the nurse asking if I had been successful and I think we were all happy that I had been… seeing as I was the only person in recovery that they were waiting on so they could go home, haha.  I quickly changed, was given discharge paperwork and was wheeled to the front to go home.  Jared was beyond happy to be going home.  He was super bored.
When Jared and I got back home, we discovered Wyatt playing in the kitty litter, er, horse shoe pits in my inlaws backyard.  I was not happy to find him in them since I feel like I have been pretty clear on the fact I don’t want him in there.  The stray cats in the area pee/poo in them and it’s a skin infection waiting to happen.  Jared had to wash Wyatt with a hose 3x before he was clean enough to come inside, then he was showered and finally given a bleach bath.  That night Wyatt was up almost every hour crying.  As the week went on he became more and more fussy and irritable and was consistently waking up between 11p-12a and 4-5a.  Jared and I were exhausted and felt like we had a newborn in the house again.  I wasn’t sure if this was an infection in the works, or if he was over-stimulated from all the family being in town {for my inlaws 50th anniversary party} or if it was from him overheating or if he was going through a growth spurt, or, or, or… there were way too many variables.  But on the evening of the 30th, Wyatt had a gigillion blisters all over his legs.  4 the size of quarters.  I popped 8-9 of them.  He was in quite a bit of pain and Tylenol wasn’t really helping at all so I broke out the morphine.  It’s been over 2 years since I’ve had to use it, but I felt like it was really necessary.  Unfortunately, he’d been screaming for so long at this point, that about 10 minutes later he puked it all up.  We decided that he was going to the dr. first thing in the morning.  He woke up in the middle of the night and a lot of the blistering on his legs had started healing, but the tops of his little feet were now completely covered in blisters.  We gave him more benedryl and a bottle and he was able to go back to sleep.  When morning came, I let him wake up on his own, which was around 8:45.  I dressed him and we went straight to the hospital.  Unfortunately, Wyatt’s primary dr.’s residency ended the beginning of June and he had gone back to Texas, so we saw someone that was completely unfamiliar with Ichthyosis.  The benefit, is we got what we wanted, no questions asked.
Within 2 doses of the antibiotics Wyatts cheerful demeanor began returning and after a few days he was completely back to normal.  Jared is going to make covers for the horse shoe sand pits so that there’s no way something like this can happen again.

In the middle of all of the cerclage/infection drama, my in-laws celebrated their 50th anniversary.  Jared and his 8 siblings threw a party for them & it was so fun to see family & friends that we haven't seen in awhile {and some that I had never even met before!}  It was a really nice party and my in-laws looked like they couldn't have been prouder of their kids or felt more loved.

For the 4th of July, there was still a little bit of family in town.  One of my nieces had had her birthday party earlier in the week and my sister in law still had the bouncy house from the party, so they brought that over and set it up in my in-laws backyard, we BBQ’d and just hung out with family and a few friends.  It was 97 degrees that day, but luckily it cooled off a lot and Wyatt was able to play outside from 5:30 on.  It helps that the backyard gets a ton of shade in the late afternoon/early evening.  Wyatt LOVED the bouncy house and being outside with his cousins.  He took a 3.5 hour nap that day, and I let him so that he would be able to stay up a little bit for fireworks.  We bathed him at 7 and by the time we came back out, it was starting to get dark and fireworks had started going off.  Whenever Wyatt heard a bang he would say “wooooaaahhhh” and look for the lights in the sky.  He was so mesmerized by the fireworks.  He sat on my lap the whole time and just leaned back to watch them all.  At one point I tried sitting him down so I could take a picture of him and he kind of freaked and ran back to me.  I guess the fireworks didn’t scare him as long as I was holding on to him.  Around 9:30 I asked him Night night? And he said night night, so Jared and I brought him inside and tucked him in.  He rolled over to his side and was out like a light.  That night he slept the entire night without waking up.  The first time that had happened in over two weeks.

Everyone has now gone home and life is starting to slow down a little and get back to normal.  It's so nice to be back into a routine.  Wyatt's back to being his happy spunky little self and I've enjoyed watching him be creative with his toys.
He did that ^ pattern with no prompting from me at all!  Every night he plays with those rings in the tub and they always face the same direction, but he'll do different patterns.  Either no same colors touching, or something like this.

This is his 'cheese' face.  Best. Face. Ever.
The other day Wyatt squeezed orange juice for his first time & he loved every second of it, including drinking the juice after.  I love having an orange tree!

This is me, last Sunday at 17 weeks.  I'm about the same size now as I was at 22 weeks with Wyatt, so I'm nervous about how ginormous I'm going to get with this pregnancy.
And finally, this is the most recent ultrasound I have of Duke.  It's way back from when I was just 10.5 weeks along.  I have another ultrasound on Friday and I can't WAIT to see my little guy!
I'm starting to teach Wyatt that he's going to have a little brother but it's hard to get the concept across.  For now, he just pulls up my shirt, rubs my belly and says "baby".  I love him.

Oops! Just found this in my drafts... posting super late but changing the posting date so it stays in order :)

I graduated from my IVF dr. this week!  I love Dr. Wilcox, but I am SO glad to not need his services anymore!  To me, it means I'm nearing the safe zone.  Plus, his appts are butt expensive so it'll be nice to only have $20 copays and everything else covered by insurance. :)

Gender reveal 2.0

On Monday, two of my friends and I threw a combined gender reveal party :)
I'm 6 & 12 weeks behind them, but it's so fun being pregnant with friends!

Everyone came over around 6:30p and we visited a little and then helped ourselves to the ice cream bar that we set up.  It was so yummy!  We had vanilla ice cream with a few toppings to choose from, banana, brownie bits, crushed oreo, sprinkles, crushed graham cracker, strawberry topping, hot fudge and whipped cream.

One of our mutual friends offered to make the gender reveal boxes for us, which was totally sweet & they turned out so so good!
We all opened our boxes and revealed the genders at the same time.  I'm a little special and threw my box in the air.  I'm not sure what I thought was going to happen haha.  Whatever.  I'm pregnant.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of the event so I only have these few that I jacked from my friends fb page haha.  Again, I'll blame being pregnant.

Anyway, here's a little video our friends husband put together of the event. Including the reveal...
Drum roll please...

For fun, I asked my friends on fb whether they thought I was having a boy or a girl.

70% guessed girl and
only 30% guessed boy.

Those of you that guess boy are right!
Duke Dangerfield Barney will be joining our family for Christmas this year.

I can't wait for Wyatt to meet his little brother!

9 weeks already?!

I'm already 9 weeks!
These last 3 weeks have gone much faster than the first 6, thank goodness.  I had an appt with my IVF dr. on Tuesday and we got to see Baby Barney!
Baby B is as big as a green olive this week
So the good news this week is that baby has moved up more toward the middle of my uterus.  The spotting has almost entirely gone away and the dr. told me that I can SLOWLY start resuming responsibilities around the house again.  There are still things off limits, like vacuuming and picking up Wyatt, or anything heavy, but it's nice to know that things are looking better and that I'm approaching the 'safe{r}' zone.

This whole nausea thing is new to me and I hate it.  I didn't experience morning sickness at all when I was pregnant with the boys  and it was amazing.  This time, it's like an all day everything makes me feel nauseous but not enough to throw up.  I guess I should be grateful that I'm at least not throwing up.
Actually, what I've really been grateful for is Jared and Wyatt.  Jared has been beyond helpful keeping the house picked up and clean and Wyatt taken care of while he's at home.  And Wyatt has been SUCH a good boy for me!  It's like he knows I need a little break.  I have some pretty awesome guys in my life :)

Potty training dog

We've had Wyatt's potty in the bathroom for almost 6 months now.  We always have him sit on it before bath time, just for practice.
Lately, he'll follow Jared or I into the bathroom and sit down on his potty while we're in there.  It's one of the main reasons we set it up so early.  So he could learn it's part of daily behavior.  He's started showing more potty cues and will tell me when he's gone poop by coming up and saying "ew"
Well Wyatt has decided that dog needed to be potty trained first. haha
I walked in the bathroom to find this
I have such a fun kid :)

Focusing on the positives

How did I get so lucky?
Really?
Since being put on bedrest, Jared has gotten Wyatt up and dressed in the morning, and takes over everything as soon as he gets home. Won't let me vacuum, clean, do dishes, pick up, do laundry, go grocery shopping. When Jared's out working, I literally do the minimum with Wyatt while laying down as much as possible. And with ALL of that going on, the house is completely picked up and clean every night before we go to bed.  He lectures me if he sees me up doing anything, even just bringing a plate back to the kitchen.  He brings me water whenever he sees that my Nalgene is empty.  And you know what?

He hasn't complained ONCE.

The other night I was even a big whiny pants and wanted chili fries from Tommy's.  Mr. awesome pants went and got them for me.  Stopped working on his RC Truck and picked them up for me, didn't get anything for himself because he wasn't hungry.  100% did it for me.  The man has picked up some tricks since our last Merry Go Round.  I remember begging for Chipotle for weeks and he refused to appease me because it would take 15 minutes to get there.  Luckily Chipotle has expanded in our area and we have not 1, but 2 close by :)  AND a Panera Bread.  I LOVE PANERA!!!  Ok, can you tell I'm pregnany?  I just spent an entire paragraph talking about food haha.

So other than my awesome amazing hunk of a husband being everything a woman can dream of, I have even more great news.  I got the OBGYN that I've always wanted!!!  Dr. Morrison retired just before my last pregnancy, and then came out of retirement shortly before we lost Michael.  Since my current dr. was out of town, Dr. Morrison performed the cerclage.  {One of the many miracles that we were shown during that time in our lives.}  I was nervous that he might decide to retire again before I became pregnant again, but he hasn't!  I called today and have an appointment to see him on the 27th.  Eeeee!!!!  I'm so excited!  To add to the awesomeness of everything, I went in to fill out all the paperwork AND HE REMEMBERED ME.  Even asked me how everything turned out from my last pregnancy.  So I filled him in really quick on my awesome little guy :)

Do you know what else makes me feel awesome?  My friends.  They have been beyond caring towards me about this whole bedrest situation.  Sending text messages to check in on me, arranging plans so that I can hang out with them on ladies night {I mean, who wouldn't want to bask in my glory though right? ;)}  Offering to bring dinners over if we need it.  A couple of years ago I honestly felt like I didn't have any real friends that lived around me, and now I have not one, not two, but a group of ladies that I get to call my friends.  I'm truly a lucky girl.

So here's the pregnancy update.
I've been on bedrest for a week now.  I'm being really strict with myself and only getting up when absolutely necessary {which is more than I'd like when there's a needy 2 year old running around}.  Wyatt has been a relatively good boy but might be going slightly crazy from lack of outside time.  I actually feel really bad about the outside time part because the last few days have been amazing Wyatt weather :/  I wish he felt comfortable running around out there by himself.  The backyard is fenced in so I know he'll be safe, but he refuses to go out there unless someone is with him.  Anyway, I'm being really strict with myself on staying laying down and drinking lots of water.  I've gotten to  where I'm spotting only a couple of times throughout the day.  I'm cramping a lot less too which is awesome.  I'm really hopeful that things will start looking up.  I feel really guilty about not being able to pull my weight around the house and I want to be able to get back in the game.  But baby first.  This girl will be following all the dr.'s orders to a 'T'!

Oh, and I think my due date was actually calculated wrong.  I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the 18th, which would put me at 7 wks 5 days. :)
Here's my baby bloat! {aka ice cream from the last 2 months and gas haha}

Bedrest already?!

Wednesday was a busy day for me.  I went a few different places, always running late because I currently suffer from mommy brain AND pregnancy brain and had to go back in the house 3 different times for things I forgot and then had to go back home to get the rest of the things I forgot.
6:00 rolled around and I finally got home to make my family dinner.  I ran to the bathroom and, red.  There was just red.  I started crying, Jared came in and hugged me, and then I put a call in to my IVF dr.  The after hours line informed me that another dr. was covering his calls for the night.  Perfect :(  I was told I should receive a call back within the next couple of hours.

I've been taking it so easy.  Jared doesn't allow me to do any housework other than making dinner.  I rarely pick up Wyatt.  But I know exactly what caused the bleeding.  When I went back home to get the things I forgot, I didn't want to unload Wyatt from the car, so I jogged into the house and jogged back out to the car.  Evidently that little bit of activity was too much for my body to handle.
About an hour later I got a call from MY doctor!  I don't know what happened, but he somehow got the message about what was going on.  He told me to take an extra progesterone and to come in first thing in the morning, I didn't need to make an appointment or anything.  He told me that there was an 85% chance that everything was going to be okay {since we don't have to worry about there being any genetic abnormalities that might cause a miscarriage}.  The odds were definitely in my favor :)

The next morning the bleeding had turned into brown and pink spotting so I was hopeful that I would get good news at my appt. I got there at 8:15 and they got me back to see the dr. about 30 min later.
Dr. Wilcox came in, confident that everything was going to be fine, and got started on the ultrasound.  This is what we saw
Baby is okay!  The heart rate measured at 135 and the dr. told me he couldn't find anything that might threaten the pregnancy.  He could see some fluid around the sac and he also noticed that baby has implanted just above the cervix.  Last pregnancy, after I delivered Wyatt, I was diagnosed with an Incompetent Cervix.  Unfortunately, since baby implanted just above the cervix bleeding will be common.  I was told that I needed to be on bedrest for at least the next 2 weeks.  I'll go back in on the 13th for another checkup.

the drama

I was so excited to share all of my good news that I forgot to include the drama!
With doing IVF I have a gagillion things I have to remember... mainly drugs.  I have to take each drug for a certain amount of time.  Follistim, Menopur, Estrogen shots, then patches and pills, doxycycline, methylprednisolone, endometrin, progesterone lozenges... you get the point.

After the transfer I only have to worry about taking a few of those.  The progesterone lozenges are the worst.  They're these grape flavored squares that have to be placed under the tongue to dissolve.  Yucky tasting and uncomfortable.  So I finished the whole bottle of like 50 of these things on a Monday and for some reason thought I was done taking them.  A few days later {Thursday} I started spotting brown and pink and started cramping.  Yikes.  Jared and I decided I should probably take it easy, so I laid down on the couch pretty much all morning while Wyatt played around me in the living room
Several hours later I jumped up to help him with something and I immediately felt weak, nauseous, dizzy, had intense hot flashes to where I pretty much stripped off all of my clothing, it sounded like the ocean was in my ears and I felt like I might faint at any minute.

My first thought was, oh my gosh, is this was morning sickness feels like?!  I had to sit down so that I didn't fall over and after a few minutes I decided I might be dehydrated because, oops!  I hadn't drank ANY water at all that day.  I made it to the kitchen and got 2 sips of water down before I felt like I was going to pass out again.  I started to sit down on the floor when my whole body started shaking and bam.  A few seconds later I woke up laying on the floor.  I think I laid there for about 5 minutes before I felt ok-sh attemping to stand up again.  I drank more water, grabbed my phone to call Jared and made it to the couch.  Luckily he was working close and was able to come straight home. {I later learned that what I experienced is called Hypovolemia}
Jared decided to put me on his own type of strict bedrest and pretty much forbid me to do anything but what was absolutely necessary for Wyatt.  After about 45 minutes of laying down and sipping water I felt MUCH better, but the spotting went on for several days.   Monday came and I went in for my second blood test.  My progesterone dropped to 6.  What?  That can't be right.  But the nurse that gave me the results didn't act like there was any reason to worry.  It continued to bother me so I called back the next day to inquire about it.  The nurse said the results were pretty low but that I'd be in the next day for an u/s and they'd see what was going on then.  But I pressed it until we were finally on the same page.  Turns out I should have refilled the prescription for the lozenges and should never have stopped taking them.  She called it in and I immediately went to pick them up.  I'm on an increased dose to try and more quickly raise my progesterone lever and after just 1 day of being back on the lozenges I felt almost 100% better.  After a few days, the cramping and spotting completely went away.
While I was upset about the misunderstanding with the meds... I'm really glad that everything was figured out and that we're back on track. And I hope I don't ever experience Hypovolemia ever. again.  That was awful.

Wyatts fundraiser

During the month of April I decided to run a fundraiser for Wyatt.
I named it 'Help Wyatt Beat the Heat' and sold jam in an effort to raise money to purchase a cooling vest for him.
I figured out that I needed to sell somewhere between 60 and 80 jars of jam to raise the money that was needed.   ...before the fundraiser had even officially opened, we had pre-sold almost 70 jars of jam.  WOW!  Friends shared with friends and there were several individuals that either didn't like jam, or weren't local but still wanted to help so they made direct donations.
The love and support that has been shown towards my son has absolutely blown me away.
At the end of the month we are close to breaking 150 jars of jam sold.  That's a lot of jam!
I was about to order Wyatt's vest when I learned that my sister-in-laws cousin-in-law worked at a medical supply company and wanted to see if she could get the vest at a wholesale price for us.  After a few days my sister-in-law told me that she was unable to get a lower price on the vest than what it would have cost me, so she just bought it herself and it was on it's way to Wyatt.  WHAT?!  She wouldn't let me send her the money for it.  I was told

"It is my pleasure, I just really felt that I needed to do this for him."

It's a rare time that I find myself without words.  But that was one of those times.
Thank you SO much to all of my family, friends, new friends, and friends of friends that helped support Wyatt with this fundraiser.  With your help we were able to raise almost $1000!!!.  I've got some pretty good jam, but I know this was all for Wyatt.  He's a special little guy and I'm so lucky that I get to be his mom!
And since we didn't have to spend the money on a vest, every penny that we raised has been put into a savings account to help us get to the FIRST {Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types} Family Conference in 2016 where we will be able to learn more about Wyatt's skin condition, and Wyatt will be able to meet and play with other children affected with ichthyosis.

Between airfare, conference admission, hotel, rental car, food, I'm figuring we'll need around $3500.  Because of the generosity that has been shown to our family, we are almost $1000 closer to making that trip happen.  Thank you so much!!!

I had Wyatt try his vest on to see how it fit and he was NOT impressed haha.  He was much more enamored with the bubble wrap, but he'll learn to love it I'm sure :)

The transfer and pregnancy test results

So the embryo transfer was on April 2nd!
Wyatt went over to his Auntie's house for a couple of days.  This was so I could just lay on the couch so that little embryo could burrow in.  It's important to not do anything or stress out about anything at all during that first little while.
Here's a magnified view of the embryo before it was transferred.  It's already starting to hatch!
After the transfer Jared picked up some PF Changs for me to gorge on and he went off to work.
At first I was like, OMG SILENCE!!  This is amazing!  la la la la la I can do whatever I want.. as long as I don't get up.  That lasted for about an hour before I was like holycrapiamsofreakingboredoutofmymind and howdidisurvivelikethiswheniwasonbedrestfortenweeks?!
Being a mom has changed me.

When Wyatt came home I was all excited to see him and he didn't want anything to do with me.  I think he was made at me or something.  Sorry kid.  He warmed up the next day though.

So now I just had to wait 2 weeks for a pregnancy test.  Two whole weeks.  These two weeks always seem like the longest two weeks of my life.

During this time, Wyatt got a fungal infection in his diaper.  Oh the joys of Ichthyosis.  So he had a lot of naked time {which I was totally cool with because baby butts are the cutest}
He had naked time in the pool
Naked time playing running around the yard
Naked time helping daddy plant an avocado tree
The kid loved being naked
Naked time plus Clotrimazole really seemed to really help the infection clear up.  Yay!

Here's a couple of bath time pictures since those ones are always the best

I love his personality!

So 5 days after the transfer I was super anxious and cheated.  I took a pregnancy test.  Then I took another on Wednesday morning.  Then another on Friday.  Finally I went and got one of those yes/no pregnancy tests so that all of the guesswork was taken out and
I'm so flipping excited to be a mom again!!!  We do know the gender, but want to make sure the little bean decides to stick around before we share.  We'll reveal the gender around the end of May.

As of now, I am 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant.  We got our first peak at what was going on in me on Wednesday
It's still too early to see a heartbeat {It's not strong enough to pick up on an u/s yet} but the dr. was able to see a yolk sac and cardiovascular tissue.  Hooray!!!
The next appt is set for a week and a half from now. :)

Fun at the park

My child loves the park
and he loves his dad
He loves the swings

But most of all he loves the slide. Or the 'wee' as he calls it :)
Sunday, he went down the slide ALL BY HIMSELF for the first time.
Part of me is sad because it just reminds me that he's growing up and it's one more thing that he doesn't need my help with... but at the same time I am SO PROUD of how big my little guy is getting and just how far he's come.
Wyatt, you amaze me.

Big boy bed

In a couple of weeks, I'll {hopefully} be pregnant.
As soon as I'm pregnant, I'll be on a modified bedrest.
Modified bedrest means no picking up anything heavier than 5 lbs.
Wyatt is over 5 lbs.

This got me thinking.  How in the heck am I supposed to get this kid down for a nap every day?!  Daddy can get him up in the morning and put him down for bed at night... but I'm the only one here with him at nap time during the week.  I kept getting the feeling that I really needed to get him in a toddler bed.  But almost everyone I know with kids Wyatt's age are still in cribs right now.  Keep them caged as long as you can right?  This last Thursday I finally decided to just do it.  So I told Jared to get out the conversion kit out so I could get it changed over.
After Wyatts nap I pulled his crib out from the wall and took off the crib parts.  And OH. MY. GOSH.  There was skin everywhere.  I do a pretty good job of vacuuming his bed out every other day, but his skin got through the crooks and crannies of the crib down to the parts you can't get to unless you take it apart.  I mean, it was bad.  It made me feel like I need to take his whole bed apart one a month just to get it thoroughly cleaned out... but that's not realistic.  There's way too many things on my to do list to spend 3 hours doing that. :/
Anyway, Wyatt stayed in the room with me the whole time, running laps around his bed, trying to jack the screwdriver from me, and climbing up on whatever he could.  When everything was finished and I pushed the bed up on the wall, Wyatt tried to climb up onto it... but he's too short, haha.  I helped him find his stool and with a little help from me, he was able to get up on his bed.  He sat there for a minute with a big smile on his face, and then climbed down.  Then he climbed back up, and down, and up, and down.  Threw his blankets off, then put them back on and laid on all of them.  He was definitely excited to be able to get in bed all by himself.
Friday night was Wyatt's first night in his big boy bed.
I sat in bed with him and we read a nighttime story, something I've never been able to do before.  And then I rocked him while he drank his night bottle.  I put him down and he was so tired he barely made it over to his bed.  He laid down on his tummy, I tucked him in, then closed the door.
I haven't had the baby monitor on in forever, but with him being in a 'new' bed, I wanted to listen to make sure he didn't get out of bed and start playing with toys.  Within 20 minutes, that baby boy was sound asleep.  I checked on him several times throughout the night, and had to move him back up the bed twice, but my big boy didn't get out of his bed even once.
3 nights and 3 naps later, he's still sleeping like a champ.
He doesn't even get out of bed until I go in his room to get him!
I wonder if he even realizes he's able to get out all by himself...
I'm not going to question it though! I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts, because I'm positive it's not going to last like this forever :)
