Our Story

Two children have met and have fallen in love
and their bond has been sealed for all time
but, there's a story to tell, of this boy and his belle,
it's a tale you shall hear steeped in rhyme.

So, how did they meet? And in proximity greet,
each other, to start on their path.
Cause, she hailed from St. Louis and he from El Monte,
To far that by chance, well, you do the math.

T'was in Utah they met, and to be more exact,
It was Provo, that city of fate.
Where young Mormons flock, and engage like a hawk,
In the search for the ultimate mate.

Now, Jessica Pope was just learning the ropes,
Of student life all by herself
A wedding was not in the plans right away,
No books would be sitting on shelves.

Then enter Master Barney, what rhymes with Barney?
He came along looking all that.
Family home evening was a perfect first date,
a spark ignited where they sat.

The flames for this twosome took time to get going.
The kindling at time seemed t'be wet.
But, all of a sudden the flames were a raging,
The sound of the flames like a jet.

Two love birds had met and their fates intertwined,
Inseparable and bonded with glue,
Our tale can continue, and transcend the loud milieu,
Let's move along now to week two.

Their fast moving romance proceeded to strengthen,
It's power akin to a bomb
But nothing compares, and scares like a bear,
Than meeting your new girlfriend's mom.

Jessica's mother was visiting, not doing much sitting,
That just isn't part of her way.
She checked on her daughter, and tested the water,
and saw Jared could brighten Jessica's day.

Soon, Halloween came and they went trick or treating,
And collected an assortment of sweets.
But the night was still young and at the tip of Jared's tongue
a confession was waiting to leap.

He professed that he loved her with all of his heart,
And the sentiment was quickly returned.
They had fallen in love as the King had once crooned,
And now their love vibrantly burned.

At this point this story is 30 days old,
And this couple seemed joined at the hip.
They did many things together in all sorts of weather,
Things proceeded at an accelerating clip.

The holidays now were looming just round the bend
And of parting they viewed full of dread
Jessica's parents weren't worried but soon had to scurry,
Because of ideas in her head.

She thought let's spend Christmas together this year,
To the state of Missouri they'd trek.
But the plan was soon squashed, and all hope was quashed,
The masterful plan was a wreck.

The holidays passed with the speed of a snail,
And time travel just doesn't work.
But finally to Provo they both did return,
At a speed that impressed Captain Kirk.

They resumed at their dating and started to think,
What is this all leading to?
Is their a point to our whirlwind romance,
Or is it just exciting and new?

So, Jared decided that she was the one,
And her father he'd try to convince
That he could provide and protect and confide
And become her long awaited prince.

Not a lot can be said of the discussion they had,
Because the details are not widely know,
But we know that he's here and Jessica's family is near,
The best support a couple has known.

It was February 18th, and the snow crunched beneath,
as Jessica started a hunt,
Jared left her some clues, she was hoping for news,
He was just trying not to be blunt.

She followed the clues to the temple up north,
In Salt Lake she now hoped to find bliss
Beneath the six spires and what sounded like choirs
He asked for her hand and a kiss.

She answered his question with a smile and a yes,
Her fondest dream realized at last,
And they decided to go to the temple of God and make covenants,
With blessings so vast.

So preparations started in earnest this year to wed this young couple forever
But making a marriage successful takes work,
It's a rewarding but taxing endeavor.

Now yesterday dawned with a radiant sun,
And that day will be theirs to remember,
They received from each other the gift of themselves,
To cherish and treat oh so tender.

This tale that I've told is a prologue of sorts,
to a magnificent unfinished story,
of Jared and Jessica and the family they'll start
and their triumphs and failures and glory.

A prologue you say? What does that mean?
So much has transpired thus far.
They met and dated, were engaged and now wed,
They've reached for and attained the raised bar.

But the best things in life are still waiting for them,
They've only just started their run.
They'll struggle, move forward, and stop for a rest,
And sometimes they'll even have fun.

So they'll move forward now and never look back
The time for regret is now gone
For the past is the past, and it always will last,
But their life is from this moment on.
