Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow?

We have finally planted a GARDEN!  This is something that we've have been meaning to do for over two years now!  It's not like we haven't had the space ready... 2 years ago we pulled a ton of rocks out of the dirt and then put chicken wire 2 feet in the ground to keep out the gophers... we bought a bunch of dirt like 1 1/2 years ago and put it in the space.  We've watered the space and let weeds grow and then killed them.  We've forgotten about the space and then had a jungle of weeds we had to battle (We won) :).  And now, we have finally put a fresh layer of dirt and planted the seeds.  Corn, bean, carrot, tomato, cantaloupe, watermelon and pepper seeds to be exact.  I am so excited about this garden that I can barely stand it!  I can't wait until I see all of the little sprouts coming out of the ground :)  We planted raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and purple grapes at the end of January and those have already grown so much!  But we bought those as little baby plants.  Really they just looked like sticks in the dirt.  Seeing how much those have grown has been really rewarding so I can't even imagine how proud I'm going to be when all of these little seeds start growing that we planted all by ourselves. :)
I also got a little planter box to put on my window sill in the kitchen and I'm going to plant some herbs in that (Cilantro, parsley, basil and oregano) and I also got another one that I'm going to try to grow some strawberries in and if they do grow then I'll plant them in the ground.  Now I just have to love all of my little seeds and water them and talk to them so that they grow big and strong and delicious so that I can eat them.  Yum! 
The things that I'm NOT looking forward to with having a garden are #1 the BUGS.  I have heard from sooo many people that I will start seeing a ton of bugs that I didn't even know existed.  And I'm super nervous b/c I've been told that I will definitely see potato bugs (also know as Jerusalem Crickets).  I always thought that potato bugs were the little black rollie pollies... apparently not.  I guess they are big and ugly and super gross.  Yikes!  But I am armed with bug spray especially for the fruits and veggies so I'm hoping to ward the bugs off before they even think about coming over.  Actually, I guess that's really the only thing that I'm not looking forward to because I really don't mind weeding.  There is something very therapeutic about being outside with only my thoughts and the plants.  Those who like to garden will know what I'm talking about. :)
Part of the reason I wanted to plant a garden is because homegrown vegetables are just so delicious!  I love that I'm going to be able to just walk out back and pluck a watermelon off the vine, or get a couple ears of corn to grill up for dinner.  I love that I'm going to be able to freeze whatever I don't eat (minus the tomatoes) and that I'll be able to have yummy veggies for all winter long.  Yay!  So we'll see how it goes!

Boys will be boys!

Ever since I married Jared three and a half years ago he has been begging and pleading for a Suzuki LTR450.  Well, today we finally bought it!  He is as happy as a little boy on Christmas morning if not happier, haha.  We got a great deal on it and as soon as we got it home we pulled it out of the truckbed and he started riding it around the backyard.  Silly Jarebear!  He's all excited because I let him get paddle tires so he can ride around in the sand at Glamis, but I also let him get the flag that lights up so that you can see it in the dark and I let him get his coveted pipe and cherry bomb that adds a whopping 3 or 4 horsepower.  Boys and their toys.  The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys... I have never heard a truer saying.  I was laughing b/c when we were buying all the parts and accessories I was talking to the cashier about how Jared is really expensive to be married to and she said her husband is too.  We decided that men are definately more expensive than women.  Yep.  It's a fact.  Us women, we have our Coach purses and Tiffany's necklaces but those are nothing when compared to a 4 wheeler, or that truck that you just have to have, or all of these things that you have to buy now to make that truck or 4 wheeler that you just bought look cool, or sound bad ass.  But you know what?  It's all worth it because then you have a happy husband who thinks he is the luckiest guy in the world to be married to such a great gal. :)

But this shot, yep, this shot is definately my favorite.  You can see the five year old that just got the exact hot wheels that he wanted AND a track to play with it on and he couldn't be happier. :)

So I'm sure we will be having another venture to Glamis in the very new future to break in this new member of the family.  I'm super excited to go again b/c I seriously had so much fun when we went last weekend.  Now we just need to get a toy hauler, hahahahaha.

Oh baby

So I went and saw an OBGYN on Wednesday!  It was just an initial consultation so nothing is really in the works to happen yet.  The doctor wants to look at my operation records from the surgery I had my sophomore year but he is thinking that the first step will be a hysterosalpingogram.  

This is how Web MD explains this test:

 During a hysterosalpingogram, a dye (contrast material) is put through a thin tube that is put through the vagina and into the uterus. Because the uterus and the fallopian tubes are hooked together, the dye will flow into the fallopian tubes. Pictures are taken using a steady beam of X-ray (fluoroscopy) as the dye passes through the uterus and fallopian tubes. The pictures can show problems such as an injury or abnormal structure of the uterus or fallopian tubes, or a blockage that would prevent an egg moving through a fallopian tube to the uterus. A blockage also could prevent sperm from moving into a fallopian tube and joining (fertilizing) an egg. A hysterosalpingogram also may find problems on the inside of the uterus that prevent a fertilized egg from attaching (implanting) to the uterine wall. 

So hopefully they can get those records quick so I can get this process going!  I'm nervous because I heard that this test is kind of painful, but if it can help to figure out what's wrong with me then BRING IT ON!!!!  
I've heard about people becoming bitter and resentful of pregnant women if they are having a hard time getting pregnant and I decided a long time ago that I was not going to be one of them.  It's not their fault that I can't get pregnant and for all I know, they might have had a hard time too.   I mean, I love love love pregnant women!  They are just so CuTe and hApPy... it's almost like they're glowing... but it was actually kind of hard to be in a room where everyone was pregnant but me.  It's funny how you don't REALLY know how you are going to react to a situation until you are plopped right into it.  I was sitting there filling out all of my paperwork and in one section I had to list my number of children, number of pregnancies, number of miscarriages and number of abortions.  As I was filling in the zeros the words just echoed around in my head... zero children... zero pregnancies... why is it that these girls that don't want babies seem to get pregnant so easily and those who do want them seem to have the hardest time ever.  It just isn't fair, juvenile as that may sound.  I felt kind of silly because the whole situation really overwhelmed me and I almost started crying.  I really don't think I realized just how much I want to be a mom.  It's kind of ridiculous.  But I guess this whole process will make me really appreciate my babies when I finally get to have them right?  Anywho!  I didn't mean to get all serious there sorry!  At least the first step has been taken and I'm hoping to turn these next steps into leaps and bounds.  :)

Glamis Baby!!!

Jared and I just spent the best weekend EVER in Glamis! :)  For those of you who have never been or heard of Glamis, it's just below Brawley, CA (which is about 30 min. above Mexico) in the Imperial Sand Dunes.  We don't have a trailer or toy hauler or anything so we just camp out in a tent which I actually really like, unless of course it's windy, and then sand gets everywhere.  So anyway, we left for Glamis after work on Thursday and we didn't get down there until about 1 in the morning (we left late).  When we got there we started a fire and then positioned flashlights so we could see what we were doing while we set up our tent. 

On Friday we slept in until about 8, which is about as late as you can sleep in with all of the quads and dirt bikes riding around.  So we got up and went for a ride.  I learned how to ride a quad now! :)  Jared taught me how to jump it and how to go around the bowls and everything.  I even did a couple of wheelies but those weren't on purpose... but Jared said I looked like I knew what I was doing so that's what counts right?  Friday was PERFECT weather, it was in the 70's with a slight breeze and not a cloud in the sky.  We went on a couple of long rides on Friday and took a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day :) how often can I get away with that one?  Um, like never, which is why I just had to!  Friday night we had hobo dinners and made some smores and watched fireworks.  Since Glamis is in the middle of no where a lot of people bring down the big fireworks and shoot them off.  I love it! 

Saturday consisted of pretty much the same thing but we did about twice as much riding as we did on Friday and it was windy windy windy.  I looked at the weather report when we got back and it said that winds got up to 27 mph.  That's pretty freaking fast!  Especially when your in the desert where there aren't really any trees to shield you from the wind.  Our poor tent is a little bent out of shape but at least it stayed on the ground!  Then on Sunday we went on a 2 hour ride before heading back.  Overall I think we rode for about 10 hours and my body is feeling it!  I've been so sore all week, it hurts to just raise my arms, haha.  Oh well, I guess it was a good workout then.  

Jared's already talking about planning another trip for the riding season and wants to go buy another quad.  Apparently he's giving me his quad so now he needs one, haha.  He's just really excited that we had so much fun together because Glamis is like his getaway place, his haven or sanctuary or whatever you want to call it and so he's super stoked that it's something that I like to do too.  I have a feeling that I'm going to get to know Glamis pretty well... and I'm totally okay with that. :)

Sick and sick

Jared has been sick for over two weeks and has now successfully transferred his virus into my body.  Up until this point I had somehow avoided all illnesses.  I thought I was going to make it all winter without really getting sick, but so much for that!  I'm not sick like Jared is though.  He's going to the doctor today to see what the heck is going on.  I say he hasn't recovered because he's stubborn and refuses to take medicine like he should.  And I think that his cough/cold may have developed into something worse now because of this.  Oh well!  I just hope he can get better soon because we are wanting to go to Glamis next week!  We both really need a vacation even if it is just a mini one.  Jared has been crazy busy between Sheldon, Scouts, ACN and doing stuff at home and I've been crazy at work with the conversion from Saturn to Subaru and Mitsubishi.  So a weekend away from all of it would be wonderful.  Plus Jared's only gone to Glamis once this season and he definitely needs to get out and ride more than that.  So anyway, fingers crossed that he'll be all better by next weekend so we can go play! :)
