Giving Thanks
So a week ago as Jared and I were walking out the door, the phone rang. I ran over to see who it was really quick and I saw that it was Brother Linch. He is the first counselor in the bishopric in our ward. I was like, uh... I'm not going to get this because we've got to get going. So we left for whatever it was that we were going to do. When we got home, there were 3 missed calls and a message from him. The message just simply said that he wanted to talk to me and would try giving me a call later. The next night when we got home there was another missed call from him. I was like, uh oh Jared, Brother Linch wants SOMETHING from me, so don't answer the phone if he calls! haha I'm so bad. The next night we were hanging out at home and Jared's friend was over and the phone rang. Well, sometimes when our phone rings the caller ID doesn't pick up who it is and this was one of those times. Not even thinking, I answered the phone. Yep, it was Brother Linch. I dramatically fell to the ground mouthing NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! and Jared just started laughing at me right away because he just knew it had to be Bro. Linch. Lo and behold the man DID want something from me. He didn't ask me to give a talk or say the prayer or anything simple like that... nooo... he asked me to chair the committee for the Giving Thanks Dinner. Me. The bishopric decided that I should be head honcho of the wards biggest activity of the year. And the real kicker? It's scheduled for Nov. 13th. So I only had 3 weeks of preparation, well two weeks left now. At first I was really not excited at all to undertake this task. BUT after a few days passed by I started to feel honored that these men thought that I could pull this off. They told me that they had confidence in me that I would do a great job. How about that? That mad me feel really good and now I am determined that this will be the best Giving Thanks Dinner that this ward has seen in years. :) I'm just really grateful that I have such a great committee to work with on this. There's no way I could pull this off without their help!
