Yay! I had another appt. this morning :) I freaking LOVE my doctor! He is such a nice guy and he answers every single question I have with the most detail that I think he can muster up. And so do his nurses. Everyone that I've come into contact with at HRC has been over the top nice and helpful as can be. I think I picked a great place to make my baby, lol.
So about the appt. Everything looks great! They did that one test (sonohysterogram) and the lining of my uterus looks great. And the doc did a vaginal ultrasound to check out my ovary. He showed me three little splotches on the screen and said
do you see these?
me: "yep!"
Doctor: "Those are potential babies."
me: "woah"
It was kind of super cool to know that those little splotches on the screen could turn into a real human baby.
The only thing that we have to wait for at this point before we can move on is the genetic screening results. We figure those results will be back in max three weeks.
So here is the tentative schedule of events for me.
Last week of Sept./First week of Oct. : Start the Lupron injections. - yep, I have to have a shot in the stomach every day for like 10-12 days of this stuff. I'm making Jared do it.
Days 12ish - 24ish - Fertility Injection plus Lupron injection (that's right, two shots a day) plus some pills and other crap to make lots of eggs or something.
After all that they will go in and extract approx. 10 eggs.
Then they'll mix the eggs with the "good stuff"
And put 2 or 3 emryos back in 2-3 days later.
The rest of the embryos will be frozen and put into storage for next time

(They are thinking that the embryo transfer will happen around the first week of November)
So happy birthday to me! About 10-15 days after the embryo transfer they will do a pregnancy test on me and will find out if the transfer was successful or not. :) Yay!
It's crazy how fast this all goes once you decide to do it.
I'll know if this worked or not before Thanksgiving!
If it worked, then hooray!
If not, we'll do it all over again.
Either way, I'm just happy that we're finally taking steps in the right direction to having our own little family.
Oh yeah, and one more tidbit of information that I'm happy about.
HRC Success rates:
For 2010 - women under 35.
They did 347 IVF cycles.
61% got pregnant
55% carried the baby to full term
(So 9% of those that became pregnant had a miscarraige.)
Since this year is not through yet the new rates have not been published, but when I was in there today, they told me that the success rate this year is right around 70%. YES!!!! That is def. some good news.

Holy cow I had no idea how much work goes in to IVF. I mean, I hear people talk about it and how much you have to do... but I just never realized! haha. Good luck, I hope everything turns out great! It sounds like you found an awesome doctor!
